The UK’s Dr. Marten – a renowned footwear, clothing and accessories brand - was founded in 1960 and received its name after Doctor Martens – a revolutionary in shoe production. The genius invented that air cushion inside the shoe sole, which helps the feet to always stay in the position that is best and healthiest for them and remain comfortable at all times. Interestingly, the idea to invent air-padded shoes came to Dr. Marten, when the latter was in the army during the war and was inspired by the fact that his army shoes were too much of a pain for his injured feet. Since the time of their creation, the shoes became a favorite accessory of various youth subcultures, including skinheads, hippies, punks and goths.

Dr. Martens 1460 boot
is a true brand classic. It was 1960, when the first Dr. Martens boots stepped down from production lines and entered our lives in the form of 8 eye cherry-red Nappa leather boots. They immediately became favorites among workers, especially those, who did a lot of walking, like postmen, police officers and production plant workers. By the end of the 20th century 1460 Boot was already being offered in 3 000 different styles.

For the brand’s anniversary, famous world shoe designers were offered to suggest their own vision for the legendary shoe. The project was welcomed and joined by Jimmy Choo, Levis Strauss, Michiko Koshino, Betty Jackson, Baifal Dream, Caroline Charles, Edian Ronay, Elspeth Gibson, Fake, Heatherette, Jasper Conran, Joe Casely Hayford, Komodo, Mrs Jones, Orla Kiely, Preen, Sean John, Slava, Tristan Webber, Warren Noronha. The designers gave birth to a unique collection of 1460 Boots with a strikingly diverse combination of fabrics, colors and accessories. Results of the joint effort are shown below, with each of the invented products reinforcing the nature of Dr. Martens boots – CREATIVE AND POWERFUL!

How many of us at some point wished that we were rid of the social obligation to wear shoes all the time? Honestly, as awesome and exciting as most shoes are, sometimes nature calls us back to the roots, and our feet start begging us for comfort and rest. And that is exactly what Vibram FiveFingers, also known as shoe gloves, are all about. Made of light rubber, this revolutionary footwear can protect us from bad weather, help us retain our health and, of course, provide us with that precious feeling of being close to nature.

Vibram FiveFingers are also designed in a way that is especially convenient for hiking in the mountains, as the five-toe separation design allows for enhanced grip on all the surfaces. The thickened sole of the shoe protects feet from injuries, while the air-penetrating inserts and anti-bacterial foot bed help the skin to breathe and stay clean.

Vibram FiveFingers come in four different styles depending on activities they are best equipped for. Producers also offer different designs for women and men.

The simplest design on offer is Vibram FiveFingers CLASSIC.The shoe uses a minimalistic approach to FiveFingers and sits rather low on the foot.

Vibram FiveFingers SPRINT generally resemble FiveFingers CLASSIC, but thanks to the supplemented adjustable hook-and-loop closures offer more flexibility and better fixation of the foot.

FiveFingers FLOW offer more security for the upper part of the foot. Neoprene lining ensures full protection from extreme temperatures.

The advantage of the FiveFingers KSO design is that it provides secure fit, while allowing your skin to breathe. The upper part of the shoe is made of polyamide fabric ensuring that no foreign bodies stand on the way between you and conquering that mountain. The shoe also comes with hook-and-loop closures for more flexibility.

To conclude, we may only add that although oddly looking, Vibram FiveFingers will definitely win their place in hearts of many women and men!
