| For some reason I tend to associate the name of Lady GaGa with shocking outfits and footwear. And I am sure that I am not the only one who thinks so. Every event where the singer appears turns into a fashion show. Her last appearance was on May ,13 in New York City where took place the Almay Concert to Celebrate the Rainforest Fund. |

| The singer was covered in black from head to toes. She was wearing black custom lace Calvin Klein Collection dress paired with black legging. The dress looked like a mourning one, which corresponded to her whole image. Besides, the woman was wearing a grey wig that made her resemble a type of a black widow at a mourning ceremony. The glasses also added a zest to the outfit. |

| And, in the end, the most striking detail of the day was Lady Gaga’s shoes. She seemed to try defying gravity laws walking in heel-less shoes with a massive toe platform. In fact on May, 8 the star already appeared in public in these incredible footwear models, but then she was wearing only a bra and panties so nobody resulted to pay enough attention to her footwear. Has she decided to repeat the challenge?
OK, now we see that gravity as well as other traditional rules has nothing in common with unpredictable Lady Gaga. Some time ago we reviewed a similar shoe model from Victoria Beckham. It was two years ago, and her heel-less boots looked much steadier than these ones. Both celebs can do everything to impress the public. |
|
| Personally, I can hardly imagine how Lady Gaga can step without shifting the weight of her body onto heels balancing thus only on toes. She must have very powerful strength of will so as to sacrifice so mush in the name of fame and fashion. |

A French fashion house Louis Vuitton is highly renowned and beloved all over the world. When you call this name fashion connoisseurs tend to think about luxurious and trendy handbags, accessories, shoes, jewelry and other items.

A designer of men’s fashion for Louis Viutton house is Paul Helbers who presented recently a fabulous collection of footwear for men. The designer is known for his conservative approach but this line differs a lot from his previous works. In fact, the designer appeared before the public in a new light – bold, extravagant and extremely stylish.

Now during the global economic crisis the leading trend in the fashion industry is functionality. But according to Paul Helbers functionality does not mean gloomy colors and boring shapes, as you may think. This collection for men is vibrant and sharp.

The men who appreciate style and comfort will definitely appreciate Cycle Moccasins made in suede calf leather. The moccasins are beige colored and look awesome.
You can see in the collection a series of Rechelieu shoes – Messenger, Butterfly in metallised calf leather and Butterfly in sequin-embroidered fabric. Each item is available in several colors – blue, green, black, taupe or silver (depending on the model).

Personally, I was impressed by materials used by the designer. His choice was more than just extraordinary. He used taiga leather, buffalo leather, calf leather, sequin-embroidered fabric, and suede. Luxurious materials doubtlessly add a zest to visual effect of a shoe. I suppose that Paul Helbers counted on it while designing the collection.

I cannot but mentioning that the collection features models for a wide range of activities and lifestyles. Both active and business men will find a special shoe for them for a season to come. The collection was presented at Milan Fashion Week 2010, and has already gained a huge success.

Footwear: Necessity or Idol?

| There were times when footwear was used exclusively for practical needs. Besides, the footwear of that time was very plain and consisted of a flat sole and several straps that supported the whole construction. Now the situation has changed dramatically. |
![]() |
| First of all, it refers to women’s footwear that has been given a status of symbol of style, fashion, social class, etc. The whole idea was inspired by popular TV series such as Sex and The City where sophisticated women revere expensive designer shoes as an idol. Women are obsessed with luxurious footwear manufactured by famous designers. But what place should footwear actually occupy in our life? Do not we pay too much attention to trifles? |
![]() ![]() |
| Not in the same scale but men are also involved in the process of footwear popularization. Men are becoming more and more hard-to-please. Footwear designers get Hollywood actors and actresses involved into advertising campaigns. Such collaborations favor that shoe brands extend their production into new areas. |

| During several latest seasons shoes brands have changed constantly but main trends repeat from time to time. Every new season fashion lover are waiting for a new collection to come out, but in fact we see all the same every time. Shoes evolve, but the whole sense is still the same. Pointed toes change into round and then into square. Then everything begins again. Referring to sole shapes, it was long ago when platforms, heels, wedges, etc were first designed. And since then they remain the same, change only accessories and shapes. |

| As a result we have got lots of unnecessary items at home that stuff up our life. I do not want to understate importance of footwear, but too much is never good. Every fashion lover should stop for a minute from running around fashionable stores and think about it. |

| There are footwear brands that are focused on comfortable and quality shoes, there are others that are concerned with fashionable look, and still there are brands that are oriented on shocking models, extravagant designer decisions and looks. The British brand Insa is precisely such a brand. Their every collection is a shock followed by an enormous success. If you need proofs, here you are. |

| Recently Insa presented a new shoe that can be considered as a masterpiece. In fact, Insa designer announced that a new heel is created specially for the British Tate Gallery. The grotesque shoe looks like a fool’s footwear that is made on the basis of another Insa shoe from Spring – Summer 2010 ready to wear collection presented by the brand. |

| Actually, only the upper part resembles its prototype, while the heel and the platform are worth a place in the gallery. In some gorgeous way the designer combined incompatible materials: leather with bright prints, beads, pastes, and the most amazing one – material obtained from elephant’s manure. However, I would prefer not to know about the fact. Anyway, the shoes look gorgeous in spite of being made from such super unusual material. According to Insa representatives, they just wanted to express their support for eco friendly trend. They affirm that utilization of such extraordinary material will contribute to ecology. |

| But that was too little for the designer who trimmed the sole with pink beads and placed each heel on a white pearl. By the way, the heels are 10 inches high, which equals over 25 cm. That is a really dizzy height. As I have mentioned at the beginning, this work of art was designed for the exhibition, however, Insa offers the public to order it via their official website. I just wonder if any fashionista will ever dare to put these grotesque shoes on. |
