Today I would like to drive your attention to a new Spring – Summer 2010 shoe collection presented by L.A.M.B. designers. The brand is popular for innovative approach, bold decisions and extraordinary styles. But at the same time L.A.M.B. shoes are very practical. The new shoe line, developed by Gwen Stefani – the owner and main designer of the brand, will be presented by vivid images, inspired by African culture and the style of 1980s. The sandals, pumps and peep toes are result of elegant mixture of the latest trends: thin thongs, massive platforms, high heels, metallic inserts and so on. Gwen decided to adorn not only heels but also a platform of this sandal with multiple metallic rivets. Thanks to such a trick the shoes do not look massive but rather unobtrusive. S/S 2010: Vivienne Westwood Wing Shoes
In continuation to the topic of Spring – Summer 2010 Trends, I can’t but mentioning Vivienne Westwood, a British shoe designer. At New York Fashion Week she presented her collection for S/S 2010. The collection created specially for Brazil footwear eco-brand Melissa was named “MELISSA Vivienne Westwood Anglomania Wing”.

The sandals have almost a horizontal platform which is cut at the heel part. Due to this cut the platform seems unsteady but it is only a visual illusion. The ankle strap is wide and comfortable. Instead of a standard buckle or button the author trimmed the sandal with a light and airy wing of the same color as a shoe is.
Like in the previous collections designed by Vivienne Westwood for Melissa, in this one all the shoes are made of Meflex plastic. The secret of this plastic is in a special formula which increases flexibility, leak tightness and water resistance. A limited series of wing shoes by Vivienne Westwood will be available in Patricia Field stores as early as January 2010. Their price will be about $190.

S/S 2010 Trend: Horizontal Platform
There are cases when two different brands show surprisingly similar designer decisions. And if such brands are considered trendsetters so it is essential to take a good look at their ideas because they are quite possible to become a new fashion trend.
In Spring – Sumer 2010 collection presented by Calvin Klein the emphasis was made on quite unusual shoes. Well, it is not Surrealistic Shoes but they have obviously drawn attention of fashion society. Calvin Klein shoes for the next season remind ancient footwear that can be perfectly matched with ancient Egypt suits. But at the same time the footwear looks modern and even a bit futuristic, especially the ones made of silver colored leather.
The main thing to pay attention to in the collection is low almost horizontal platform. So that the whole image doesn’t look heavy designers decided to make the upper from thin straps. If you look closely you will see that the platform is cut at the front and rare side to make the shoe look lighter.
And now let’s take a look at another collection with the same features. I am talking about Marc by Marc Jacobs. The collection also features silver shoes but these ones don’t have open toe. A fastener on the ankle was replaced by laces. What both collections have in common is low horizontal platform. Nevertheless, they have a considerable difference. Marc Jacobs shoes feature a pretty low heel. Well, do these shoes remind ancient footwear as well?
There is no doubt, both Calvin Klein and Marc Jacobs shoes presented for Spring – Summer 2010 have certain likeness, though both brands have managed to create unique style. What is no less important, there is an obvious tendency to comfort. Low and steady platform, low heels prove that. Well, we have plenty of time to decide what to choose the season to come.
