Shining Mary Janes from Prada
Mary Janes came into fashion at the beginning of the 20th century as kid’s shoes, but soon they “grew up” and became popular with adult women. Initially the shoes came with a strap and a rounded toe, later on a number of fashion houses tried to breathe a second life into the model, namely equipped it with high heels, or embellished it with patent leather elements and or made its toes a bit sharper.
Now it’s Prada who launch their version of the celebrated Mary Janes. The designers preserved a rounded toe and the legendary strap, which makes you immediately recognize the famous shoes. Still, the shoes coincide with the current fashion for a single strap is in this summer.
However, the Prada Mary Janes have two controversial issues. The first of them is a high platfornm. If you imagine classic Mary Janes on a low platform, then you’ll see that the heel shape is perfect. Now it looks rather bulky and heavy.
The second issue is the color. Can you think of any suitable clothes to match these dazzling shoes? Can it be a short dress? Or shorts? What can be said for sure is that you ought to carefully select your outfits before going out in these Mary Janes.
The shoes look too correct, too reasonable, too prefect so that it may cause negative feelings rather than attract. It cannot be said for sure what creates such an effect; either it is the platform or the color. In other respects the shoes are prefect. Even its inner soles are made of soft leather.
The price for the Mary Janes from Prada equals to 600 pounds. All in all, they are too perfect, too loud, too original and… too expensive.
Nicholas Kirkwood Shoes Especially for Keith Haring
British designer Nicholas Kirkwood is the biggest name in shoes today, with his daring sculptural shapes that meld contemporary art and fashion. Every season the fashion designer tends to collaborate with other brands or famous personalities. I remember his work with Rodarte, Peter Pilotto and Erdem. The result was just fantastic. And now the designer decided to join efforts with Keith Haring’s Foundation.

Recently were presented to the public several sketches of heels that will be released in February 2011. The collection will be based on the art of Haring. A total of 12 styles will be included. The collection will be obviously one of the most vivid and bold ones we have seen in our lives. I would describe it as expressive and flamboyant presentation.

My attention was driven by architectural heel resembling a blue baby, extravagant prints and jaw dropping details. The collection resulted extremely symbolic as every element was inspired by Keith Haring’s work. If you are thinking about purchasing some shoe from the line, during the Fashion Week in Paris the limited edition will be sold at the online store of Nicholas Kirkwood.

According to the designer, when he watch a documentary featuring Keith, he could not stop thinking about how amazing and prolific he was and how great it would be to incorporate his graphics into shoe designs. That is why he ended up approaching the Keith Haring Foundation. The designer’s talent is really incredible.
Alexander McQueen: The Last Collection of the Master
The world of fashion has not gone through the fact that there will be no more masterpieces of the best in the area. Alexander McQueen was an example, an idol for a lot of new made designers. The master has gone but his popularity seems to be increasing from day to day. Nobody has left indifferent to his creations. At the Paris Fashion Week the last collection of the master was finally presented. It is dedicated to a rich heritage of the world culture. Check out the best moments in the pictures below.

The imagination of Alexander McQueen had no limits. Remember, for example, his Spring – Summer 2010 Collection, and compare it with what you can see now. The difference is evident. There is no techno style or futuristic ideas; the master found the inspiration in the past, in the depth of the centuries. His last collection is dedicated to Byzantine art, and specifically, on the works of Sandro Botticelli, Jean Fouquet, Stefan Lochner and other eminent artists.

Let’s have a good look at the shoes presented in the collection. Boots and booties on a high platform are trimmed with numerous gold beads. It seems that a gold stream spontaneously hardened on the platform and turned into the work of art created by nature. Heels are also gilded, besides, there is a spiral carving on the surface of the heels, which makes them look like ancient columns. Shoe décor have common gilded details with luxurious outfits of the models.

In spite of ancient theme, the shoes look very modern. Have a look at the top of the thigh-highs, it is girdled with leather straps featuring gold buckles. That looks very unique and unusual, is not it? It is a pity that the collection was only 80 per cent over when the designer died. I bet that it is worth being exposed in a museum.

| What really shocks is that the designer’s mother dies just a few days ago. According to his words, mother’s death was pretty difficult for him to overcome. And a few days after that the designer hung himself in his London house. His catwalk show that was supposed to take place on Thursday was cancelled.
Alexander McQueen had a very successful career. He is the owner of multiple awards such as the Designer of the Year from 1996 to 2003, and even an award from the Queen herself. At the weekend took place a charity show in the framework of New York Fashion Week, which became a salute in honor to the designer. Lady Gaga, Alexander McQueen’s muse, is going to play tribute to the designer with her performance at the BRITs. The singer admits still being in shock. She says Alexander McQueen had a great influence on her outfits and an image in general. The thing is the majority of her extravagant dresses and suits were Alexander’s creations. I suppose everybody remembers the red lace McQueen dress the singer wore at the MTV Music Awards 2009. |
