S/S 2010: Designer Shoes’ Review
| Though warm and sunny season of spring is not coming soon, and we have to stand cold and windy weather, shoe designers seem to have got tired of booties and boots yet and suggest that we go ahead. Personally I completely support them because I do not like cold weather at all. That is why today I offer you a list of shoe models presented at Fashion Weeks Spring – Summer 2010.

A New Trend Is Coming: Eco Shoes
| Today there is an obvious tendency to environmentally-friendly items. The number of “green followers” is growing. And finally the tendency has approached the world of fashion. Among the first retailers to give up using leather and fur were Clarks, Adidas, Nike, Timberland. They made a protest against animals’ murders in Amazon forests. |

| Later on, such fashion conscious women as Stella McCartney and Natalie Portman supported the idea. They are sure that eco friendly shoes’ wearing doesn’t mean sacrificing style and fashion. As far as Natalie Portman is concerned, in Spring 2008 she even launched her own line of eco friendly shoes. Among other celebrities involved actively in green movement I can list Scarlett Johansson, Brad Pitt, Al Gore, etc. |

| What is undoubted is that green shoes can be hot, stylish, quality and trendy. Let’s take, for example, OlsenHaus brand that perfectly does without leather. The brand was founded by Elisabeth Olsen, an ex designer for Calvin Klein ? Nine West. I can’t but mentioning about Vivienne Westwood shoes created specially for Melissa brand. By the way, we have recently discussed her wing shoes made of rubber in vivid colors. This collection influenced a lot the world of fashion. So there are all reasons to consider eco shoes a new fashion trend. |

| Among other brands that manufacture vegan footwear there is Acorn brand that uses natural and earth-friendly materials that are sustainably grown, biodegradable and organic. Acorn is a brand for those who look for maximum comfort. |

| Sergio Rossi has also made his contribution into green movement. In Summer 2009 the designer presented his “Eco Pump”, a heeled pump made of eco friendly materials. It was planned to launch a shoe simultaneously with a world release of Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s documentary film dedicated to environment protection. |

S/S 2010: Vivienne Westwood Wing Shoes
In continuation to the topic of Spring – Summer 2010 Trends, I can’t but mentioning Vivienne Westwood, a British shoe designer. At New York Fashion Week she presented her collection for S/S 2010. The collection created specially for Brazil footwear eco-brand Melissa was named “MELISSA Vivienne Westwood Anglomania Wing”.
Vivienne is famous for bringing new waves and styles into the fashion mainstream. The designer is even called punk’s creator. She is creative, has an extraordinary view and positive approach to life.
| Vivienne Westwood’s style shook up British fashion industry in 1970 when the designer presented her first work. From that time on she remains one of the most significant and influential designers in England. Her style is eccentric, contradictory, recognizable and positive. |
The models presented in the collection are made of natural 100% recyclable materials. The distinctive feature of these shoes is decorative wings that add original look to the design. The sandals have almost a horizontal platform which is cut at the heel part. Due to this cut the platform seems unsteady but it is only a visual illusion. The ankle strap is wide and comfortable. Instead of a standard buckle or button the author trimmed the sandal with a light and airy wing of the same color as a shoe is.
Like in the previous collections designed by Vivienne Westwood for Melissa, in this one all the shoes are made of Meflex plastic. The secret of this plastic is in a special formula which increases flexibility, leak tightness and water resistance. A limited series of wing shoes by Vivienne Westwood will be available in Patricia Field stores as early as January 2010. Their price will be about $190.
Vivienne Westwood’s woman is confident, stylish and young. And this youth is not only outer but it is inner first of all.
