Zipper flats
Weird as it may sound, but zippers really seem to be taking over the world. In fact, we can witness a lot of world famous designers turning to that little element in both, clothes and footwear design. Although, we do have to be honest here, this collection is not only notable in it’s zipper accessorizing – there is plenty of other things to focus on.
On the one side, the flats look pretty conventional – there are no outstanding details in terms of shapes or soles, or anything else. We have to admit, that if there is one shoe type, that has been explored and designed in a variety of kinds and colors , that would be flats. Yet, something does make the shoe somehow different from all of it analogues.
First of all, the color choice is a definite head turner. The shades chosen by the designer are very tender and feminine. While not so special on their own, together they create an almost tangible feeling of femininity. Instead of the already usual pink and blue, the designer goes with orange and pale flesh color.
Another unsurpassed and unique feature of the shoe is of course the zippers. The designer’s move is surprising in its innovation and bold in its freshness. Another shock is that the zipper actually does work. It’s not there for decoration only, and can be easily closed and open if needed. This looks like a brilliant solution, as the shoe can be worn by people with different width of feet. Closing or opening the zipper is all it takes to adjust the fit.
When looking at the shoe, one thinks the masterpiece must have been created by a woman. But that is, in fact, not true. The innovation belongs to the male designer Francisco Miranda aka Tooco. But then again, who, if not men, really do know what women want?!

Thigh-high Nearby
The new season is surprising in that all the designers seem to have joined their efforts in promoting thigh-high boots. It looks like this shoe type is about to become the hit of the season.
Thigh-high boots have been around for a while, and are up until today surrounded by a great deal of controversy. Although definitely an interesting and exciting type of shoe thigh-high boots do have their limitations.
For once, when choosing to go with thigh-high boots, it is not recommended to overdo with the details and accessories. The boots themselves are already a huge element in one’s decorum, so it is better to do without large jewelry items and big-sized bags.
Besides this kind of shoe greatly emphasizes thighs, so special care should be taken over stressing the waste. This can be successfully achieved with the help of a thin or wide belt.
It is also not recommended to combine thigh-high boots and low-neck dresses and sweaters.
On the plus side, this type of shoe is ideal for visually ridding ourselves of a few of those extra pounds. A short straight dress or a long sweater along with high-heeled thigh-high boots are ideal for the purpose.
Another known fact is that pants tucked into the boots this high help to avoid unnecessary allusions. The legs seem slimmer and longer, and, let’s be honest here, a lot sexier. After all men do pay attention to our legs a lot. So making them look perfect means more glances and more interest from that part of the world’s population.
All in all the decision of the world’s most famous designers to turn their attention to thigh-high heels is a true herald of the season to come. So we should all prepare ourselves for the new madness, that’s about to take over the fashion world.
Spring-Summer 2010: What’s in, What’s out?
Have you already asked yourself, what shoes are going to rock our world in the spring of the next year? Well, guess what? The brightest stars on the designer footwear horizon have already provided their hungry public with the first glimpses of the shoes for the future collection. The hottest trends of Spring-Summer 2010 footwear collection are described below.
High Heels
All the designers agreed on one thing – the higher the heel, the more appealing and sexier the women legs. Judging by all sources, a spike heel has all the potential to become a real hit of the season. High heeled shoes are present in the collections by such designers as DKNY, Zanotti, Alexandre Birman, Bruno Frisoni, Mary Norton, Sergio Rossi, Max Kibardin, Raphael Young and others.
The thick wooden heel is also still very much in style, as much as extremely high wooden platforms (Casadei, Omelle, Barbara Bui, Nine West).
Impressive Decorations
The next season seems to place more emphasis on decoration. The shoes on the first drafts are decorated with spring flowers, small and large bows, round buttons, stones and metal parts. The most glamorous models are fitted with fur, purles and crystals – Rene Caovilla, Ruthie Davis, Guillaume Hinfray, DSquared, Beverly Feldman, Sergio Rossi, Jerome C. Rousseau, Nicole Brundage, David Wyatt.
Fancy Interwoven Straps
New collections by Zanotti, DKNY, Alexandre Birman, Pollini include sexy peep toe sandals with multiple sophisticatedly interwoven straps.
Colors in Style
The color palette of the new season is represented by yellow, red, wine-colored, saturated aubergine, white, brown and blue. The good old purple is also not yet ready to step down from its positions.
We will very soon be able to see the innovations in reality during the Fashion Weeks to come in the Fall of this year.
The Legendary Manolo Blahniks
The shoes created by this designer are always easily recognizable – they have a tapered toe, a spike heel and something really unique in terms of colors, fabrics or decoration. Manolo Blahnik has been creating shoes for over 30 years now, and has developed his own special style. Yet, the designer is not ready to follow the known trail and is still experimenting, seeking exclusiveness and art in every shoe pair.
Manolo Blahnik, who is half Spanish and half Czech, has graduated from a university in Geneva, then studied design in Paris and started developing his own shoe styles in Britain.
Initially the designer also tried himself in clothes design. However, when he showed his work to Diana Vreeland, a legendary editor-in-chief of the Vogue magazine, she advised him that he worked with the shoes only. In 1973 Manolo Blahnik opened his first boutique in London, which until today remains the favorite place where all the designer’s fans from the entire world like to purchase their shoes.
The most famous Manolo Blahnik shoe is a spiked heel pump.
Manolo Blahnik usually uses classical shapes as a basis for his shoes, then adding some unusual elements, painting them bright pink, for instance, or decorating the straps with small pompons.
For more casual designs, Manolo Blahnik prefers bright green crocodile skin, supplementing them with funny stings.
Sedara 1991 shoe is also incredibly popular among women. This shoe is a combination of black silk, purple sateen and a large brooch with sparkling stones.
Manolo Blahnik is the brand that is famous throughout the world. However, up until now the brand only has one designer – there has never been more. The man who created the brand continues doing the work all by himself.
Saying that Monolo Blahnik shoes are popular among the celebrities is saying nothing. Almost everyone on the famous horizon has at least a couple in their possession. But of course the most famous fan of the shoe is Sarah Jessica Parker from Sex and the City, whose fascination with Manolo Blahnik almost turned the shoe into another character on the show.
