The Britney Comeback!
Britney Spears has renewed her cooperation with Candie’s footwear brand as their advertising face of Candie’s brand for its Fall footwear, clothing and accessories collection.
The artist has only recently returned from her European tour, for which she was dressed in Candie’s items head to toes. Britney even managed to feature “Radar” in her new video clip.
To be honest, the advertising posters featuring Britney Spears look somewhat bizarre and unusual, yet, they undoubtedly attract a lot of attention.
The positions in which Britney was photographed look a little ill-balanced. Besides, the posters have too much of a collage in them – it looks like the ad designers have overdone it with Photoshop a bit. The ad is also notable in the color choice – a true lot of pink in all the unexpected places – and interior elements – pink hay, a horse with pink bows, an unimaginable white and pink tent. Well, like they say, the sky is the limit to our creativity, so here we have it. To be honest, I do not think that the designers tried to created an artistic masterpiece – much rather it was an attempt to draw attention of the media and public to the brand, and make the latter stand out among the alikes.
After all Candie’s is a brand that is known to be designing simple convenient shoe models at affordable prices. The new footwear collection fully supports the tendency featuring, just like before, a lot of simple cute models perfectly fitted for everyday wear. Here you can find sandals on a cork platform with a high stable heel, gray wavy flats with a little bit of a silver sparkles to them, black peep-toe shoes that come in black and brown and can be comfortably worn with an evening dress, lively pink high-heeled sandals and a lot more.
All in all, this collection does deserve a quick glance!
A Story of the Shoe
People started wearing shoes about 40 thousand years ago – that is the conclusion arrived at by Erik Trinkhaus of the Washington University in St. Louis, who analyzed the foot bones of the ancient people.
This same guy initially suggested a different date for this wonderful creation of men, but the newly discovered data added another 10 thousand years to the date.
The oldest shoes found are dated 10 thousand years B.C., since just like other everyday items of the time they destruct easily. That’s why it is a little difficult to calculate the exact date. So what the scientists did was analyze the bones of ancient people’s feet and legs. The thing is that is has been scientifically proven that wearing anything on feet (even just soles) leads to changes in the structure of phalanges of the third toe.
Discovery of ancient people’s bones is not the thing that happens so often. That is why when two toe phalanges (dating 40 thousand year back) were discovered in China, Erik Trinkhaus and his partner Hong Shang from the Chinese Academy of Sciences rushed to study the discoveries right away.
They then analyzed the skeleton aged 27.5 thousand years that was found in , a skeleton of the Neanderthal man, as well as two other skeletons belonging to the people closer to our age.
Having compared the toe phalanges the scientists arrived at the conclusion that it was 40 thousand years ago when people first invented and started wearing shoes. They published the results of the experiment in the Journal of Archaeological Science, which was met with criticism by some representatives within the academic circles, claiming that the first shoes could have been created by Neanderthal men, who lived under rather conditions.
Trinkhaus does not mind, yet, he does hold his position pretty dear.
Stylish Ankle Boots - Fall-Winter 2009-10
Designers continue their bold experiments with the new shapes and constructions for stylish and fashionable shoes of today. Below is a brief review of the boldest models of Fall-Winter 2009/10 footwear collections innovative in their styles and shapes.
To be honest, I don’t think that we could be surprised with architectural footwear shapes and extreme designs at this point. We have seen a lot of innovation in the previous collections, especially on account of the fact that the designers have been desperate in fighting for the attention of the media. Designers often create shoes that are even hard to walk the podium in. However, there is also another extreme point to it – sometimes the seemingly usual shoe turns out to be quite a trick. Those are exactly the shoes we will talk about here.
Sergio Rossi decided to surprise his fans with an unusual construction. The fastening in these shoes is really complicated, twining itself diagonally across the foot.
These boots from Chloe collection are locked like a prison. The designers decided that a regular zipper was not enough – they decided to supplement the closing mechanism with a couple extra straps. Can you imagine how much time it can possibly take to open and close these boots?
Dolce&Gabanna shoes made of firm netlike material that looks a little bit a like a fishing net. Although this shoe is doubtful to comfortable in wear, but it does look very sexy.
Guiseppe Zanotti peep-toe ankle boot looks slightly too light for the season. The sole in these short boots is almost entirely exposed. The surface of the ankle boot is decorated with multiple thin straps with miniature buckles – this a real jewelry work indeed, and it is handmade too.
Maison Martin Margiela half boot is notable in their unusual shape. The designer decided to unite the platform with the top of the boot.
Emanuel Ungaro Speeding Up
A French-born Italian, Emanuel Ungaro has managed to combine in one the best traditions of the French exquisiteness, Italian quality and refinement. And that one is of course his art.
The man studied under his father, and by the age of 25 he has achieved significant and impressive results on the fashion scene. He was initially working for Balenciaga Fashion house, then switching to Courrèges. But that of course was not enough for the young ambitious man he was, so Emanuel went further and succeeded in realizing his dreams of opening his own stores and creating his own label in the capital of modern fashion - Paris.
The fans of Ungaro’s art prefer his work primarily for their feminine touch. Oh, and let us not forget about the fact that the designer initially worked with clothing, and started producing his own shoes and accessories (and interestingly enough - perfume) a little later in his career.
This unusual gray sandal is first of all innovative in the choice of heel. It literally looks like a tree branch, supplementing the shoe and adding a slight touch of nature and environment to the overall look. Other than that the shoe is a perfect representative of this season’s fashion, with plenty of straps, a zipper in the back, and, of course, an indispensable component – high quality soft skin.
Other models by the designer are notable in their color choice. All of the shoes come in bright colors leaving no one indifferent. The designer likes to work with different materials, so that the designs are not restricted by some of the qualities of material.
As of today, Ungaro enjoys wide popularity and recognition all throughout the world. His interesting shoes couldn’t have stayed unnoticed by the celebrities either, so some of them bought a pair or two. The lucky owners include Angelina Jolie, Harrison Ford, Kirsten Dunst, Jeremy Ironsand some other star players of today.
