In the coming year of 2010 an American company Mountain Hardwear (MHW), that produces high-tech innovative clothes, accessories and tourist equipment for active free time and extreme sports, will celebrate its seventeenth birthday. Despite its relevantly short history, the company of MHW deserves being a leader in the market of specialized outdoors products.
The company was founded in 1993 by Michael Wallenfels and his friends. Being all famous alpinists, rock climbers and downhill skiers, they sooner or later had faced, that no products in the market of professional equipment could fully satisfy them. Then they decided to develop and produce quality clothes and equipment themselves. And they were a brilliant success!
The founders included their own experience, developed a powerful research department, and started to use modern technologies and innovative materials. The company soon gained extreme popularity in America and Europe and was caught by the eye of such a giant of outdoor industry, as Columbia. In 2004 Columbia bought the controlling interest of MHW, however, only after the promise never to involve into the company’s business. Thus, Mountain Hardwear managed to remain free and at the same time got a number of benefits.
Mountain Hardwear has kept its managing board with no changes, and also preserved HR, marketing and product policy. MHW has also received excellent financial and distributive support and an opportunity for rapid growth.
A year ago MHW reached Russia, but due to its distinguishing technologies, exceptional reliability and thoughtful designs the products of MHW became very popular among Russian outdoor fans. Active people all over the world evaluate and adore Mountain Hardwear clothes, shoes, equipment and accessories, as it gives them a wonderful opportunity to spend their free time in the way they wish to do it – while Mountain Hardwear will do the rest.
